had a little swagger under my belt tonight," Sylvia Fowles (all the way
to the right in the pic) said after last night's win over UCONN. "I
wanted to prove a point that we can hang with anybody."
And so she did when LSU, defying the odds, delivered a huge 73-50 smackdown
to UCONN last night. That team has dealt with so much adversity over
the past few years, from having their lives turn upside down by
Hurricane Katrina to their head coach's resignation just a few weeks
ago due to alleged misconduct with a former player. LSU's top players
are from my home state (Sylvia and Erica White) and I'm so proud of
them for handling their business on the court and helping to keep their
team tight in the face of a media frenzy they endured when Pokey
Chatman stepped down. I thought I'd never say this: "GO LSU!."
