" Based on a spoken soundwave pattern of the phrase "Don't let your life pass you by" from the song "I Will Remember You" by Sarah McLaughlin, I created a site-specific light sculpture for Steve Miller of Origin Ventures. Each element is a reflection of the patron: clean-cut, minimalist design; 65 pieces for his birth year; a favorite color of Lake Michigan with which the sculpture shares a horizon line visible through south-east windows on the 58th floor; gold-tipped quills hand-made of 200 year old pine (he is the grandson of Quill, Inc. founder); and the title phrase--for new beginnings. i saw this yesterday while on my way to take a picture of the house park bar-b-que sign which is the daily photo. this was in the parking lot of a non-descript building across the street from the high school football stadium where it is like "friday night lights" on steroids when the kids play with the leather prolate spheroid. i can hear the games from my house.
